Hernangomez played his way into the Knicks' starting lineup last season. The second-round picks both belong to Charlotte and are for 2020 and 2021.
The New York Knicks fire sale has begun.
Hernangomez is a player I'd put on my watch list, because he showed last season that he can produce when given minutes, but the path to those minutes isn't clear, so I wouldn't run out and pick him up unless another trade or something big changes. Hernangomez, a 23-year-old center from Spain, emerged as a fan favorite in NY but was averaging 4.3 points and 2.6 rebounds in just over nine minutes of action per night. The Hornets will be hoping he brings the rookie season version of himself over to the Hornets. Then again, there may be protections on the picks that we're not aware of yet that would save the Hornets from losing, say, a pick in the high 30s.
