The bombing has been carried out over the past four days in Badakhshan province's Wurduj district, said Navy Capt. Tom Gresback, a US military spokesman in Kabul.
"Continued U.S. strikes disrupt Taliban support networks in Helmand province, as well as destroy their sources of revenue such as illegal narcotics", pointed out the RS mission.
A B-52 dropped 24 "precision guided munitions" on Taliban fighting positions in northern Afghanistan as part of a four-day campaign, according to USA forces in the country.
The airstrike has reportedly targeted Taliban strongholds, training camps and drugs processing centers in bordering areas between Afghanistan's Badakhshan with Tajikistan and China.
The comments came during a Pentagon press conference Wednesday (local time) with Air Force Major General James Hecker, Commander Of The 9th Air And Space Expeditionary Task Force via satellite from Kabul, Afghanistan.
The US is preparing an onslaught against insurgents in Afghanistan when the Taliban's fighting season starts in the spring.
United fans hit back at Mourinho
United fans have responded to Jose Mourinho's criticism about the subdued atmosphere at Old Trafford. Mourinho has more to think about than the France global , however, Giggs maintains.
He said the goal for the NATO Air Command, which he leads, was to nearly triple the size of the Afghan Air Force over the next few years. The strikes also destroyed stolen Afghan National Army vehicles that were in the process of being converted to vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices. The Taliban actually is not on the State Department's list of designated terrorist groups, though it often has carried out attacks on US troops and other Americans.
The long-range strategic bomber, stationed at Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar, carried out its first record-breaking precision-guided munition drop during a mission in Afghanistan in November, a feat credited in part to its new conventional rotary launcher that allows the Cold War-era bomber to carry more smart bombs. Other strike aircraft are based in Afghanistan, including F-16 jets flown from Bagram air base and A-10 attack jets that recently arrived at Kandahar Airfield in the southern part of the country.
"While U.S. air power is destroying Taliban support elements in the deep fight, Afghan A-29 [Super Tucanos] and MD-530 helicopters provide quick, lethal support to Afghan ground forces in the close fight", Hecker said. "There will be no safe haven for any terrorist group bent on bringing harm and destruction to this country".
The strikes are the latest in a series that began after President Donald Trump's new strategy in Afghanistan was announced in August.
"Therefore, they inflict harm and suffering on innocent civilians", he added.
