John Elway is looking to free agency for his fix at quarterback following a season in which all three of his drafted QBs fell flat in Denver.
But it's easy to see similarities between Bridgewater and Mike Glennon, who was signed to essentially a one-year commitment by the Chicago Bears last offseason.
Stay tuned to BSN Denver for all of the latest on the Broncos new quarterback. Would make him the highest paid QB.
But the Vikings have always been the frontrunners in this sweepstakes, after they allowed all three of their quarterbacks - 2017 starter Case Keenum, backup Sam Bradford and third-stringer Teddy Bridgewater, who missed close to two seasons after a devastating knee injury - to test the open market. Keenum threw for 3,547 yards and set career bests in completion percentage (67.6), touchdown-to-interception ratio (22-7) and passer rating (98.3), which was 22 points higher than he had the year before.
Six years ago, Elway landed Peyton Manning, the biggest free agent prize in National Football League history, following his release by the Colts and a series of neck fusion surgeries.
Although the hope is Keenum stabilizes an offense that has been all over the place the last two seasons, the reality is he will need help.
Pakistan opposition candidate elected Senate chairman
If elected, Sanjrani will enable the PPP to have its fourth nominated (or supported) chairman of the Senate consecutively. While, the PPP has overall 20 seats in the Senate and the PTI stands third major party in the Senate with 13 seats.
If the Broncos are truly interested in Keenum, they should give him a four-year deal and build around him. He's passed for at least 4,000 yards and 25 touchdowns the last three seasons.
Bridgewater is a free agent with Minnesota having declined his fifth-year contract option. What is certain is that by adding Cousins the Vikings are willing to take a big-time swing at ending that drought. The kind of consistent production the Vikings haven't seen from a quarterback since Daunte Culpepper was chucking the ball around for them in the early 2000s. Arizona is going to make a hefty push for Cousins as well, and might even look at the Eagles for Nick Foles, but getting Keenum makes a lot of sense for the Cardinals.
All of those moves came before the team had a new stadium and now a brand new practice facility that has or will increase revenues and also made the Vikings a more favorable destination for top free agents.
Elway insists the Broncos can get right back into the playoff picture with the right quarterback and tweaks to other areas of the roster. Cousins didn't seem to want to negotiate with Washington, so they replaced him with Alex Smith.
But none of the last 12, first-round quarterbacks of the previous five drafts reached the playoffs in year one.
