Toyota revealed the fifth generation of its popular RAV4 compact SUV this week at the NY auto show, and it's a little larger, more up to date and more off-road capable than before. 2019 RAV4 SUV gets a new design which looks fresh and updated.
Of course, the five-door iM was introduced in Canada for the 2016 model year under the Scion banner, but after the brand disappeared, the vehicle moved over to Toyota.
Alongside the regular RAV4, a RAV4 Adventure model made its debut, with a bulkier look than the regular model incorporating high roof-rails, wheel-arch extensions, a more aggressive grille, fog-light surrounds and model-specific wheels. In photos, the vehicle now has a taller, less wedge-like front end, while D-pillars are more steeply raked. The wheelbase has increased a bit, and so has width, but overall the new RAV4 is ever so slightly shorter in length than the old model. Also available will be up to five USB ports, wireless device charging, and an all-new 11-speaker JBL sound system.
In other words, the 2018 Toyota RAV4 means serious business and despite the bold styling cues, it has adventure and off-roading characteristics written all over it. The new Dynamic Torque Vectoring All-Wheel Drive system can send 50 percent of engine torque to the rear wheels, plus distribute it to the left or right rear wheel.
The all-new RAV4, which will debut at the New York International Auto Show, is wider and lower than the previous version, with improved ground clearance and aerodynamics.
