Velayati, upon his arrival in Syria on Tuesday, said the strike would "not remain without response", Iranian media reported. "Iran will consider launching an official retaliation for the attacks on its soldiers this time in order to deter Israel from continuing to strike Iranian forces in Syria".

This assault comes after a chemical weapon attack on civilians in Damascus' rebel-held suburb of Duma.
The bombardment had kept more than 100,000 people huddled in basements and shelters, said a medical student in Douma who has worked with the opposition and spoke on the condition of anonymity for safety reasons.
SANA news agency reported that the missile attack on the T4 military air base in Homs province resulted in a number of casualties, without giving details.
"With the Syrian army having the upper hand on the ground against the armed terrorists, it would not be rational for it to use chemical weapons", the statement said.

Mr Trump had earlier taken to Twitter to issue a warning to Syrian and its allies. Iran insists its soldiers are only in Syria in an advisory role, but hundreds have been killed since the civil war began in 2011.
Russian Federation and Syria have consistently denied all the allegations of chemical attacks during the seven year old Syrian war, and in this instance have accused the rebels of staging a "false flag" incident to trigger U.S. intervention.
Syria finally joined the convention in 2013, admitting under heavy US-Russian pressure to having a toxic arms stockpile, and staving off threatened US air strikes.
Russia's Foreign Ministry called the latest reports of a chemical attack a provocation. It has investigated more than 70 cases of alleged toxic gas attacks in Syria since 2014.
