Bharatiya Janata Party leaders, led by Member of Parliament from Raipur constituency, Ramesh Bais, observed a day-long fast here on Thursday to protest against Opposition parties over the recent washout of the Budget session of Parliament.
BJP President Amit Shah, who is on a two-day visit to poll-bound Karnataka, held the protest before the Deputy Commissioner's office in Dharwad in the state's northwestern region. Vinay Tendulkar is the lone Rajya Sabha MP from the state. But they have been exposed in front of the whole world on account of not allowing any business in the Parliament, he said, adding that this will prove last nail in the coffin of Congress, which is already facing tough time across the nation.
"Though the Congress stoops to any level to retain power, the people who could see through its ploy will teach a lesson in the May 12 state assembly elections and bring the BJP to power again", said Shah at a party rally in the state's northwest region.
Among the leaders, photographed at a popular Delhi restaurant, were Delhi Congress chief Ajay Maken and party leader Arvinder Singh Lovely.
Congress sought to stir up a controversy by releasing the list of the official programmes of Modi and Shah, in which time for meals had been mentioned.
"The way the Congress vitiated the atmosphere in the Budget Session's second phase and disrupted it, people in a democracy will not forgive it". Instead of holding a discussion within the house, it has taken up the task of hampering the work.
