The iX3 is set to compete against the Jaguar i-Pace, Audi e-tron and first Mercedes EQ models, as well as the Tesla Model X. The two-pronged offensive of the i3 hatchback and i8 sports auto certainly capture people's attention, but technology and demand of electric vehicles is marching on. While India launch of the BMW iX3 is not sure presently, we can be hopeful about its arrival in India considering the fact that Indian market is thriving towards zero emission mobility. Of these, 12 will be equipped with fully electric propulsion systems.
The BMW brand is progressively advancing in bringing all-electric facilities to its vehicles.
With the world premiere of the BMW Concept iX3, the BMW Group is opening a new chapter in its electrification strategy.
There has been no push to create a radical design, though - a decision which distances the iX3 and its future stablemates from BMW's less traditional i3 and i8 models. And that means a pure combustion engine, plug-in hybrid drive system or battery-electric solution can be integrated into any model, as desired. Another notable element is that the electric motor does not need any rare earths, which means the BMW Group is not dependent on their availability.

The BMW Brilliance Automotive joint venture will produce the future series-production version of the BMW Concept iX3 in Shenyang, China.
The new BMW iX3 features signature kidney grille which is closed to reduce air resistance. Entirely electric, it's powered by an electric motor that draws electricity from a 70-kWh battery pack which stores enough juice for about 250 miles of range in the European testing cycle.
Stylistically, it's much quieter looking than i-branded models, and is basically an X3 with a slightly tweaked bodykit and a blanked-off "kidney" grille at the front. Overall, the iX3 sports a striking design with the Moonstone Silver matte colour scheme. The concept study is also fitted with light-alloy wheels in an aerodynamically optimised design.
The high-voltage battery is assisted with eDrive technology meaning it can be fully charged in 30 minutes at fast-charging stations.
