The results we get are accompanied by ads and it's in seeing and clicking on these ads that the company makes the vast majority of its revenue. We're excited to try this later in 2018 and see how well it does or doesn't work.
Google IO is being held in California this week. For example, you can create a Custom Routine for family dinner, and kick it off by saying "Hey Google, dinner's ready" and the Assistant can turn on your favorite music, turn off the TV, and broadcast "dinner time!" to everyone in the house. Singer John Legend voiced one of the new assistants, which marks the first time a celebrity voice has been broadly available, rather than just pigeonholed into a turn-by-turn satnav system.

An update for Google Maps also will be coming which will give the user a "For You" tab, that will show them new businesses in their area and also the trending restaurants.

Their offerings though have a big difference - they're all about the visuals. The company also brought Assistant-powered Smart Displays. WaveNet is the same program that is powering Google's DeepMind AI, and by feeding it voice tracks from a source, the final product is a working, functioning voice that Google can use to replace the default voice of Assistant. The Assistant will be able to understand when you're talking to it versus someone else, and will respond accordingly. But Google faces another challenge if it wants to thrive in the voice search world - it needs to catch up.
"Well", Legend replied online, "the Google Assistant doesn't do everything". The improvements include more natural pauses "that have meaning" and other subtleties to help create a "more natural dialogue" with Assistant.
