The tablet is also the thinnest model Microsoft has ever made, at just.32 inches. For one, it's more versatile than the latest generation of iPads, especially with the track pad in the optional keyboard. This gold processor is the big question mark in the whole Surface Go idea as we are yet to see whether it will be powerful enough to drive demanding Windows applications.
A successor of sorts to the discontinued Surface 3, the Surface Go ($399 to start) targets mobile workers, students and anyone on the move who doesn't want to lug around a traditional laptop. It weighs only 1.15 pounds, which means it's ideal for those spur-of-the-moment Netflix sessions. It feels a lot more premium than the starting price might suggest, and the optically bonded Gorilla Glass display should hold up as you shove this slate in a bag day after day.
Finally, we should note that the Surface Go is not now offered with 4G LTE support and you can only get a Wi-Fi one, while iPads are offered in both styles.

Available for pre-order in selected markets starting from today onwards, the 4GB/64GB version of the device will go for United States dollars 399 (about RM 1604) while the 8GB/128GB model is listed at USD 549 (about RM 2206). There's the option to get the 8GB RAM/128GB SSD configuration, but that variant costs more than $549.

If you remember the long-discontinued Surface 3-Microsoft's last attempt at a cheap (er) tablet-Surface Go is what a Surface 4 probably would have been if the company was still using that branding.
"Surface Go offers a stunning, custom-built high-resolution PixelSense Display that supports Surface Pen with 4096 levels of pressure sensitivity, low pen parallax, low latency, and precision for accurate note taking, drawing and computer-aided", says Panos Panay, Chief Product Officer, Microsoft.
Now, let's talk accessories.
There are some pretty decent Windows 2-in-1s available for $500 or less. The huge gap is best felt in the processing powers of the two.
Can the Surface Go challenge Apple's iPad tablet supremacy? What if you could have a tablet as small as an iPad, but didn't lock you into the less than capable iOS?
Apple's cheapest iPad is the 32GB Wi-Fi-only version, and that is priced at $329.
Even with the reduced price, it retains all the major Surface design elements: a variable position kickstand, 8MP rear/5MP front cameras with Windows Hello facial recognition, the Surface Connect magnetic charging and dock port, and a 10-finger multitouch screen with Surface Pen support. You'll just have to keep your performance expectations in check.
