Entertainment reporter Roger Friedman of Showbiz 411 was first to address the alleged concerns over Franklin's health, claiming that the 18-time Grammy victor is "gravely ill in Detroit".

The 76-year-old soul legend - who last performed at the Elton John AIDS Foundation party in NY in November - is said to be at her home in Detroit, where her loved ones are understood to have gathered to say their goodbyes. The Queen of Soul is 76 years old. "Her biggest hits include "Respect", "Chain of Fools", "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman", "Think", "Pink Cadillac", and "I Say a Little Prayer for You".
She said: "I'm doing well generally, all tests have come back good".
Harry Hairston, an investigative reporter at the NBC station in Philadelphia, tweeted that he spoke with a close friend of Aretha Franklin.
