While discussing the secret recording and her opinion of Donald during the Meet the Press interview, Omarosa explained that she thinks the country is being deceived because the White House staff is lying about the president's mental state. In an interview with Today's Savannah Guthrie, Manigault-Newman said Trump was "absolutely" a liar, but she became defensive when Guthrie pressed her about why she chose to work for him.
The former reality TV star made the announcement during a "Meet the Press" interview on Sunday with NBC's Chuck Todd, who played the recording.
Privately, officials who worked with Manigault Newman said it was the type of damn-the-rules behavior she had engaged in for months and which bothered many of her colleagues - but not Trump, who had to be cajoled into letting her be dismissed.
NBC News later released Manigault Newman's tape of Trump.
Trump's attorney, Rudy Giuliani, said on "Fox and Friends" Monday that Manigault Newman may have broken the law by recording private conversations at the White House.
Manigault Newman also went on to say that she was "complicit" and apologizes for defending President Trump's response to the Charlottesville riots a year ago, where he said violence came "from all sides" rather than the white supremacists who murdered Heather Heyer.
"Why wouldn't we?", she asked when the host, Jon Karl, pressed her on the issue. She was a vocal supporter of Trump when he announced his candidacy for president and served as Director of African-American Outreach for Donald Trump's 2016 presidential campaign. "They didn't care if I showed up". Ms. Manigault Newman also described being in the Situation Room as "false imprisonment", because she claimed the staff held her there for hours without counsel or her husband.

Newman didn't specify when exactly the tape was from, but said that it was from Trump's time hosting the show and spinoffs through early 2015.
The book is due to be released next week, but CNN obtained a copy on Friday.
On Saturday, she accused Trump of starting a "race war". "I told him to try working it out, if possible, because she only said GREAT things about me - until she got fired!"
"People in the White House hated her", he said.
She says the president lies often.
"I don't want to negotiate", Manigault Newman replied.
"She begged me for a job, tears in her eyes, I said Ok", the president wrote.
Trump's administration has frequently come under fire for its lack of diversity.
