Trump told "Fox & Friends" in an interview that aired earlier Thursday that Sessions "never took control of the Justice Department and it's a sort of an incredible thing".
"The special counsel Highly conflicted Bob Mueller and his gang of 17 Angry Dems are having a field day as real corruption goes untouched", Trump said, repeating a partly true assertion.

"And by the way he was on the campaign, you know the only reason I gave him the job is because I felt loyalty - he was an original supporter". He was on the campaign.
Trump also said during the Fox News interview that even his "enemies" have told him Sessions should have informed him he was planning to recuse himself from the Russian Federation investigation so that he could have picked a different attorney general. Or he should've told me.
Sessions' statement said that, under his leadership, the Justice Department "will not be improperly influenced by political considerations". "I demand the highest standards, and when they are not met, I take action".
