Sen. John McCain will be honored at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C., Saturday in a memorial that will include speeches from two former presidents.

"This whole idea the world should stop for John McCain's funeral is just a disconnect between the Republican Party and the president's priorities - including keeping the House and avoiding impeachment - and the D.C. echo chamber", said Sam Nunberg, a former Trump aide, was quoted as saying by Politico.

At a Capitol Rotunda ceremony, Republicans and Democrats called a temporary political truce to honor McCain on the third of five days of memorial celebrations in Arizona and Washington for the Vietnam War hero and two-time Republican presidential candidate.
Vice President Pence was the administration designee and attended McCain's memorial service at the Capitol. McCain's family has made it clear that the president, who routinely criticized the Arizona senator and his military record, wasn't invited to this or other services this week. Later, the public was to pass through the Rotunda for six hours to pay their respects to McCain, whose coffin was placed atop a pine board catafalque originally built in 1865 for President Abraham Lincoln's casket.
"I'm a Democrat. And I loved John McCain", said Biden, who lost his son Beau to brain cancer, the disease to which McCain, 81, succumbed on Saturday.
McCain helped plan the events around his funeral.
John, who served two decades in the U.S. Navy, will be buried in Anapolis, MD at the U.S. Naval Academy Cementary. McCain is a decorated veteran who was held for more than five years as a prisoner of war in Vietnam.
As cameras panned the cathedral gathering, including such members of the Washington elite as former presidents Obama, Clinton, and George W. Bush, along with Michelle Obama, Laura Bush, Hillary Clinton, Henry Kissinger, Sen. Joe Lieberman and daughter Meghan McCain.
