After the FOCAC Summit, President Buhari will hold bilateral meetings with President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Li Keqiang to discuss infrastructure financing for strategic projects in Nigeria and the upgrading of Nigeria-China relations "from a strategic partnership to comprehensive strategic partnership".
President Mnangagwa and First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa arrived here yesterday and were welcomed at Beijing International Airport by Communist Party of China vice chairman of the People's Political Consultative Conference of Beijing, Mr Lin Fusheng, and Foreign Affairs and International Trade Minister Dr Sibusiso Moyo, who travelled ahead of the Presidential delegation.
The interest in the forum is a result of China's growing influence on the African continent and proves the FOCAC has been pragmatic and efficient, it said.
More concrete projects are expected to come into being during the upcoming series of FOCAC events, including the High-Level Dialogue of China-Africa Leaders and Business Representatives and the 6th China-Africa Business Forum.
It is expected that the summit will adopt the new Beijing Action Plan (2019 to 2021), which will chart a new course of China-Africa friendship and mutually beneficial cooperation across various fields in the next three years.
Speaking at the opening of a major summit with African leaders, Xi promised development that people on the continent could see and touch, but that would also be green and sustainable.
China loaned around $125 billion to the continent from 2000 to 2016, data from the China-Africa Research Initiative at Washington's Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies shows.
"Inadequate infrastructure is believed to be the biggest bottleneck to Africa's development", he added.

The last Focac Summit was held in Johannesburg in 2015.
Zimbabwe and China have excellent bilateral relations anchored in a shared history and friendship that dates back to the days of the liberation struggle and President Mnangagwa's second visit to China since his ascendency in November past year is expected to inject new vitality and renew the call for a shared future with the Asian country.
Finance Minister Nhlanhla Nene praised China's agreement to send more buying missions to South Africa.
"So far, no African country has complained of falling into debt because of cooperation with China", Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying told reporters on Friday.
