Trump has called the investigation a "witch hunt" and routinely questions why the Justice Department isn't investigating Hillary Clinton.
When asked in the Bloomberg News interview whether he would comply if Mr Mueller issued a subpoena for him to appear for questioning, Mr Trump said: "I'll see what happens".
Trump's personal attorney, Rudy Giuliani, managed to convince him, once again, that firing Sessions right now would create a political storm he may not be able to withstand.
"What's happening is a disgrace, and at some point ... if it doesn't straighten out properly ..." Bloomberg said Trump declined to comment when asked if he would keep Sessions past then.
Mr Trump has also repeatedly complained that Mr Sessions recused himself from the Russian Federation investigation.
