"I noticed there was a blank wall at McDonald's so I decided to make this fake poster of me and my friend", wrote Maravilla.
Jehv Maravilla, 21, and his friend Christian Toledo 25, noticed a lack of representation in the marketing materials at a McDonalds in Pearland, near Houston.
The two said they eat at the McDonald's at 2803 Business Center Drive often. Noticing that none of the photos on the other walls had any Asians portrayed in them, they joked that they should take a photo of themselves and put it up in the blank spot.
'What motivated me was Crazy Rich Asians, the movie that came out, that boosted my confidence into thinking maybe one day I could be just like that, and if I take a step and do something small like this, it could make a difference. "And hopefully one day I could see someone like me on the big screen". So, they hung up a photo of themselves in a Texas restaurant.
A group of friends from Texas were so frustrated by what they call the lack of "equal racial representation" in billboards inside McDonald's stores that they made a decision to take matters into their own hands, shooting their own campaign and covertly hanging it up in the store.

On July 13, with the help of some other friends, the duo snuck the poster into the restaurant and tacked it up when no one was looking.
Maravilla posted a video in August explaining how him and his friend pulled off the prank and why they felt it was important. However, the local franchisee released the following statement.
'I kind of hope they will ask us to be representative models for them, ' Maravilla told KHOU.
'We take pride in highlighting diversity in every aspect of our restaurants, ' the company said.
