Indeed, a Warner Bros spokesperson told THR after their report was published yesterday: "We have a great relationship and great respect for Henry Cavill that continues to remain unchanged". Henry has been very vocal about his feelings towards Superman.
As well as that, Warner Bros.is unlikely to produce a solo Superman film for at least a few more years. Whatever went on behind the scenes (allegedly something to do with a dispute regarding a possible Superman cameo in Shazam!), the end result was that Cavill was hanging up his Superman spurs once and for all. "Cavill please still be Superman!".
It's generally accepted that where there's smoke there's fire...
This should come as no surprise, given that Jordan has quickly become one of the hoddest commodities in all of Hollywood, though the initial reported noted that he would provide a much different spin on the popular Kryptonian. Similar to the show Supergirl, Warner Bros. will likely want to establish Supergirl as her own entity in the DCEU before actually pairing her up with Superman. As a side note, rumour has it that Idris Elba will be the actor to take on James Bond after Daniel Craig hangs up his jersey.
Apple Announces The Apple Watch 4: Fully Custom SiP
The new watch, with a price tag that starts at $399 in the USA and €499 ($580) in Germany, is a more comprehensive health device. If you want to connect your wired headphones to your shiny new iPhone, you'll now need to pay £9 for a headphone adapter.
Here's where I think the story comes from. THR reports that negotiations broke down between Cavill and Warner Bros. over a cameo in next year's "Shazam!" due to scheduling conflicts, and the " door is now closing on other potential Superman appearances".
"Today was exciting", the actor captioned the post, adding the #Superman hashtag. The production company did note that they "have made no current decisions regarding any upcoming Superman films".
Looking past the racial controversy that could arise, Michael B. Jordan would hypothetically be a great choice to play Superman in the DCEU. Let's just say you won't hear us complaining about that.
Cavill has always express his admiration and love for the character, as well as being able to bring him to life on the big screen. And that, more than anything else, may be the real hurdle standing in the way of Henry Cavill ever playing Superman again.
