Rapper 50 Cent Lists Connecticut Mansion

Posted on January 20th 2011 One Comment

The ultimate niche property could have just hit the market. Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson has listed his Connecticut mansion with the Exceptional Properties Division of William Raveis Real Estate, and director Jamie Zdru describes the property as “truly an escape from the ordinary”[1]. While many sellers worry that their homes will not be unique enough to attract buyer attention away from bargain-basement priced REO and foreclosure properties, Jackson’s property comes with more than 50,000 square feet of living space, a fully furnished nightclub and dance floor and myriad sports amenities. In addition, the 17-acre, private estate allows for personal, private entry via helicopter pad and is located only 10 minutes from West Hartford, Connecticut.

The home is being marketed as a “Prestigious Home,” which means that only “ultra-affluent” buyers will be considered or allowed to view the property. Because the home is considered “rare” thanks to its many unusual amenities (including an “after-hours” exotic lounge and 3 guest homes), the rapper hopes to get top dollar even though the housing market is not currently looking particularly promising for conventional sellers.

Do you think that ultra-lux real estate is a good niche right now?

Please leave comments, insights and questions below.

How can you ask if its a good niche, not one person reading these columns will ever understand, witness, or be apart of a single transaction of that level/caliber. Without any experience the normal investor who buy $50-500k properties to flip/rent has no valid opinion. Please ask the same question to a group of “ultra-affluent” buyers and we can find out a real answer or opinion.

Mike, it’s unreasonable to assume that no one reading this is investing at these levels. Our readers come from all levels of investing experience and opportunities, and many have informed, relevant opinions in myriad areas. That’s why we cover such a wide range of topics Thanks for reading!
