If there’s anyone who can afford to buy real estate in this faltering economy, it will be the celebrities. A couple of celebrities have been reported to be shopping for new properties. And one celebrity wedding seems to have failed to up the ante on a New York property. Here are the latest updates on the real estate activities related to celebrities.

Not even the former president’s daughter is enough to pull up the price tag on a property. The summer wedding of Chelsea Clinton, daughter of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and former President Bill Clinton, may have created a buzz but it was not enough to up the price on the estate where she got married. The owners’ post-wedding strategy has not worked so far.

Astor Courts in Rhinebeck, N.Y., where Chelsea Clinton was married this summer, was previously priced at $1 million. After the wedding, the owners put $13 million as asking price for the property. The strategy has not attracted buyers.

In the week ending September 16th, the property has not only failed to sell, it also saw a price slash. The asking price on Astor Courts in Rhinebeck, N.Y. has been slashed by half. It is currently listed at $7.5 million, says New York Post Real Estate Columnist Jennifer Gould Keil.

In other celebrity-related real estate news, Kelsey Grammer, who is best known for his role in Frasier as Dr. Frasier Crane, is on the hunt for an apartment. Grammer and his girlfriend are considering an apartment at 200 West 11th Street.

Rocker Joan Jett, popular for her stint with Joan Jett & the Blackhearts and their revival of “I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll”, is also shopping for a new place. She has recently checked out an apartment in SoHo Mews. The apartment measures 2,284 sq. ft. and has three bedrooms.
